WEEK 16: More rain, Sick companion, Small successes

Hiiii!

This week was for sure a weird one.
Cutie Comp
Like for sure.

first of all. THE RAIN! There is seriously so so so much rain here. I can't even handle it.

also good news this week marks my four months in the mission! seriously so crazy how times flies. I feel like I just got here hah!

Last monday night we got a call from our district leader informing us we were going to have a GRANDE INTERCAMBIO in our zone! Basically, one companion stays in their zone and the other companion goes to another for the day. Well, Elder Woodfield told me that I would be leaving! We all laughed, because there are only four hermanas in our zone, and we all live in the same casa. So yeah, I was going to be switching rooms for the day. But, they told me to pack a bag for the night anyways. The next day we arrived at the chapel for our meetings and our sister training leaders were there! (sidenote: Hermana Peralta and Hermana Ruiz are the sister training leaders) basically it was a super happy suprise because I got to spend the whole day with Hermana Peralta again.

Twas soooo happy. It was super necessary and so fun to be with her again. Shes great!

Hermana nelson was super sick again this week :( we spent three days in the casa. Being stuck in a house all day in the mission is SOOOO BORING. I seriously read like the whole book of mosiah. and I made some cute agendas for the hermanas in our casa. and yeah. kinda was a boring week.
hermana naranjo had her 7 month birthday this week
which is crazyyyy

buttttt we have a cool story! I'm not sure if I wrote about this last week, I dont remember, but we have a family in our ward, and the dad isnt a member. But his wife and kids have been members for 11 years. Well, these past couple of weeks he's been coming to church. And this last saturday we had lunch with his family and he was asking us so many questions and I really think he's going to get baptized soon. We are going to have family home evening with his family tomorrow, AH! I'm super excited. They're such a great family.
it started hailing this week and its SO FUNNY
because everyone was freaking out
and taking pictures and hiding. ohhhh so funny.

tomorrow we have interviews with presidente wilhelm which will be kinda cool.

hmmmm.

not much else to write about.

boring week boring missionary.

BUT I LOVE YOU GUYS TIMES A BILLION

next week is gonna rock I can tell.

Week 15: rainandrainandrainandrainandrain

hi hey hiiiiii from chileeeee

RAIN RAIN
this week  was a good one! but I mean they're all good obviously because Im in freaking chileeee.

first of all I have a kinda funny story...Last week during our nightly planning session we recieved a call from Esteban (one of our investigators) and SUPRISE he was drunk again. And he was like, "my hermanas, why didn't you visit me today?" and we just kinda listened for a couple of minutes, and then he said, "you guys need to come here RIGHT NOW. My seƱora wants to fight you guys. you need to come so I can prove to her you are just trying to preach the good word of God.." hahaha we were like "ummmmm what???" apparently his wife is super jealous of us and wants to fight us. soooo needless to say we are going to take a little break from Estaban and his silly wife. chau for now.

Its a little lame because we had to drop basically all of our investigators this last week. None of them are progressing. Its super sad to leave them, because I really love them so much, but one thing that I read this week in a talk that my district leader gave me said, "the scripture says that the field is WHITE already to harvest. Its not brown ready to plant, yellow ready to water, its WHITE ready to harvest." There are people out there that are prepared to hear this message and we need to find them, and not waste our time on the people that aren't all the way in. ya know? sooo yeah. Kinda a lame week. But I know with all my little heart that this week we're gonna find tons of people. And its gonna be a miracle man.

Here in chile they have these super weird park/
excercise thingys on like every corner
and they're super weird but way fun.
lets see. this week we stopped by the bishops house to use his bathroom and his daughter gave us two of these random fruits that I've never heard of or seen before... they're called MEMBRILLOS. So I carried this heavy fruit around all day and was so stinking excited to eat it when we got home. Like... Giddy. I was stokeeeeed bro. So anyways, I get home, cut it open, and its FILLED WITH FREAKING WORMS!!!! like i'm not kidding. Filllllllled with worms. No big deal, my bishop just tried to kill me or something. i'm not gonna lie, it was probably the saddest thing that's happened to me so far here in Chile. :'(

but yeah... this letters a little lame I know :) BUT. I'm so so happy here. Its been hard but super super worth it. Everyday I love this country and these people and this language more and more. Oh and also I like understand like almost everything now which is bueno too. Life is good and I'm happy and I know without any doubts that this is where I am supposed to be and that things are about to get real good here in Avenida Alemania :)

gracias por todos! le amo muchooooo

con amor,
hermanita poyfair

OH YEAH I ALMOST FORGOT IT RAINED SO SO SO STINKING MUCH THIS WEEK. LIKE I HAVE NOT SEEN SO MUCH RAIN IN MY LIFE. AND ITS NOT EVEN THE RAINY SEASON YET. buttttt its beautiful and I like it so far. yeah.

WEEK 14: Zone Conference and other miracles

hiiiiii from chileeee

this week was... yeah. I dunno. I got no words for it. haha. twas lame but good but lame, ya know? Idk.

Probably the prettiest sunset tbh
this week I got a good taste of what this winters gonna be like here I think. RAIN. Lots of rain. And its a little bit lame because the people don't wanna talk when its raining outside right? So yeah contacting is just the worst. We were told like six times that if we were dry then we could come in, but we were soaking wet so maybe some other time which is code for adios. :)

Thisssss week we had zone conference and we had our hermanas conference and our zone activity this morning. So like it was a super busy week. And it was soooo fun to see Hermana Peralta! But our zone leaders are just super awesome, I'm pretty sure they're gonna be the next prophets or something idk. They talked a LOT about how here in Chile we are being asked to put more of a focus on the less-active members in our wards, because their are seriously SO MANY. Like here in Avenida Alemania more than half of our ward is less active. Its super lame.

Zone activity todayyyyyy
SOOO. Here's our miracle for the week: I have been here for about two months, and I always heard the name "Javier Sanchez". In our area book, in our meetings, everywhere. But I had no idea who he was! And so this week, I was like we need to meet Javier. So I did some research and found that he was a super recent convert of about four months, but now was less-active. So every day this week we knocked on his door, and no one over answered. And it was super lame. And yesterday I had about given up, but I decided to knock one more time. AND GUESS WHAT. Javier answered. And was like, "oh come on in!" But here's the best part. He lives with his dad, his mom, his two sisters, and his cousin. AND NONE OF THEM ARE MEMBERS! But they all sat and listened super intently to our message, and we have a return appointment with them on wednesday! I'd be lying if I said we didn't skip away happily. What a miracle, Javier promised to be at Church on sunday, and the rest of his family is going to be there too, just wait.

Hermana Nelson was pretty sick this week so we didn't get a WHOLE lot done, but this week I can tell is going to be like sixty times better.

oops sorry this letter is a little lame but its because this week was a little lame but it was great and I just love the mission and I just love being a missionary and I just never ever ever want to leave this beautiful city or this beautiful country haha. Also I don't wanna like brag or anything but I think I'm at the point were Im understanding like 75% of the spanish being spoken around me. WHICH IS PRETTY COOL RIGHT.

YEAH. I love you all. Have a spectacular week.

con amorrrrrr

WEEK 13: New Companion, Conference impressions

HI

guys im not even kidding this week was the greatest and the worst week in the mission so far and I know I say that every single week but for reals this time its so true.

SO first of all my companion. Shes AWESOME! Shes been on the mission for about 6 months, but if you talked to her you'd think she's been here for years. Her Spanish is spectacular! I was super worried at first when I found out she had only been out for a couple of months, but no worries. Im definitely taken care of, shes SUPER AWESOME! She's from Canada and she's 19 too! I love her to death! We get along super well. And I'm not gonna lie, its pretty nice to talk in English a little bit.

This week was super hard though because since she's new here in the sector, she doesn't know her way around yet... So I've kinda been in charge of everything and its kind of a lot of pressure for a guagua (baby)! But, once again I've been pushed out of my comfort zone and I've been talking a lot more to the members and our investigators, which has really really helped my spanish! So I guess its like a blessing in disguise. I guess.

Esteban. Esteban is SO FRUSTRATING! He's like never in his tent, and so its super hard for us to get a hold of him. We got to visit him once this week, but it was POURING RAIN, it was starting to get dark, and his brother was a little drunk, so needless to say it was a short and sweet visit. He really does want to change his life and get back on his feet, so i'm definitely gonna keep fighting for him, I know he's gonna get baptized.

CONFERENCE WAS FREAKING FANTASTIC! Before the mission everyone was like, "enjoy the conference on the mission, because it seriously is so different," well, I spent the past month and a half praying and learning spanish as fast as I could so that I could understand even just a little bit of Conference so I could enjoy it, but I was informed about 10 minutes before it started that they had a room set up so we could watch it in English! I was a little excited. It was so so so nice to understand everything. and seriously it was such a beautiful conference. Seriously every talk was so inspired, and a lot of questions I didnt even know I had were answered. I LOVED ELDER HOLLANDS TALK. I loved his quote where he said, "The Lord blesses those that want to improve." His message was so golden about how the Lord doesn't expect us to be perfect, he just expects us to keep trying every day. I also loved Elder Christoffersons talk about Fathers, made me miss my daddy a lil bit. ;)

Pday today has been super fun. We ate some completos, and we went and looked at this beautiful pond that is super close to our house! This city is soooo pretty. I never want to leave. I could serve my whole mission here. hahaha,

but yeah. oh what a happy week. I hope you all had a happy week and you enjoyed conference and you ate lots of ice cream like elder holland said.

chauuuuuu.

WEEK TWELVE: Transfers and Easter and Conference (oh my)

HI

Hows it goinggggggggggg

This week was good and bad and super slow and super fast and I dont even know just super all over the place to be honest.

I give it a solid 8.4

cutie hma peralta
First of all. ESTEBAN! Oh Esteban. Well. We committed him to baptism! He kept telling us he just wants to change his life and himself and he said he feels that through Jesus Christ he can do that! It was so awesome!!!! Supposedly, his baptismal date is the 16th of April. BUT. He called us a couple of times last week saying he "accidently" got drunk. And yeah. Its super hard because he wants to change but he's not doing anything about it. Also its a little scary because he lives in a tent and we dont TOTALLY want to go teach him in a tent, and he works a lot, soo yeah. FINGERS CROSSED. We are going to visit him tonight and I feel like things are going to work out super super good.

la mejor distrito
But heres the worst part, after the prayer Presidente Wilhem informed us that we would all be receiving a SHOT. In this moment about 200 missionaries groaned and it was probably scarier than the shot itself.

Well, the next day I woke up with this super duper bad headache. Like, super bad. And the day after it was worse! It was super weird, we called the mission nurse and she informed us that about 50 missionaries had called her and told her the exact same thing. Apparently it was a side effect of the shot or something? I dunno. But anyways we asked our district leader for a blessing, and literally the second he took his hands of my head, the headache was gone. Like. FOREVER. No pain, no mas. Definitely the coolest thing ever. hashtagchurchistrue

cutie hermana norton again
This week I was walking with Hermana Peralta and she's the cutest because shes learned a little bit of English here in the mission and so we were just walking and she was all like "ouch my BUTT." and she said it SO LOUD! I was completely mortified, even though no one understood. After she said it, she gasped and covered her mouth and whispered, "no butt. back. no butt." its been a real long time since I laughed that hard ahaha!

OH YEAH! This week was a little bit lame because it was the "Holy Week" So everyone was out of town. Seriously. It was like the walking dead, there was literally no one in the streets all week.

Oh also Transfers came this week. ANDDDDDD I'm staying here in the Lovely little city of Los Angeles. BUT. My mom is leaving :( Shes going to the northern part of Los Angeles to be a Capacitadora! I'm getting a new trainer tomorrow, her name is Hermana Nelson. I'd definitely be lying if I said I wasn't nervous out of my head. BUT. I'm a little excited because she's a gringa hahahaha.

have the bestest week and ENJOY CONFERENCE! today I'm excited because I get to watch conference in ENGLISH WOOOO!

I love you times a bazillion

love hermana poyfairrrrrr
