Week 37: We're just happy there aren't hills in Saint Martin

what. a. week.
probably the craziest week of my life, hands down.
see, guess I'll start from when we got off the bus here in Los Angeles... It was so crazy, like deja vu. We were quickly informed that 1) We would be living in the same apartments that I lived in for the first 5 months of my mission 2) that we wouldn't have a cell phone or map until the next day and 3) that we would literally be starting from scratch, there wasn't an area book, nothing.
about getting thrown right into things, right? Luckily that night we had a meeting with our ward mission leader who is super awesome and helped us get things figured out, a little.
The next few days were super funny and crazy and frustrating and just everything smashed into one, as we did our best to get to know the sector. We only got lost ALOT. But its cool, we're still alive and thats all that matters, amiright?
Sunday, and Monday were crazy. Straight up, flat out crazy.
The 18 of September is Independence Day in Chile, but basically the whole entire weekend is a holiday! Everything was closed and nobody worked (including missionaries.) we have basically had 3 pdays, because no one wants to listen to missionaries on Holidays :')
Chileans use these "holidays" as an excuse to eat and eat and eat and eat and eat. On Saturday, We headed over to the house of our ward mission leader to eat a bunch of typical chilean food with the other missionaries in our ward- Was quite the party, and we're pretty sure we gained like 12 pounds each.
Right as we were about to leave, our ward mission leaders brother pulled up with these 3 cute little white goats in the back of his truck. more about that later...
The next day was CHURCH! this ward is huge huge huge and so so so awesome. Lots of people remembered me from when I was in Avenida Alemania, so that was fun. I loveeee it here.
Hermana Freitas and I both had the opportunity to speak in Church! WEll, I've been struggling for the past couple of weeks with a cough, but on Sunday it was like super bad. So I am up on the stand giving this talk, when all of the sudden I start coughing and I can't stop. #embarassing... This cute little deacon brought me a glass of water in the middle of the meeting and it was just so embarassing and funny, what a great first impression...
Well, after the meeting, the Bishop comes right up to me and says, "In my office, now, we are gonna give you a blessing so this lame cough can get the heck out of your body."
I seriously loveeee this wardddddd.
That night, we had this huge BBQ with our ward mission leader and his family. As they brought out the meat, they looked at me and said, "Hermana Poyfair, remember those cute little goats? They taste good too!"
a few tears may have been shed secretly. R.I.P.
Monday was Pday but since its a holiday here, everything was closed so we literally played soccer and volleyball and mafia for like 8 hours straight. pure juiceeeee.
This morning I got to see hermana johnson for the first time in 2 months and it was such a happy reunion. I miss herrrrrr.
We are super excited for this new week! Its going to be a week of miracles, I can tell.
butttttt thats about it. hope you all have a fabulous weekkkk.
love you guys!

Week 36: Back to the city of angelssssssss

hi everyone.

About six weeks ago, as our bus slowly pulled away for the bus station, I quietly whispered, with a tear in my eye, "Don't worry Los Angeles, I'll be back."·

okay that really didn't happen, but there was always some part of me that knew I wasn't done there.

This week we got our cambios! I am heading back to Los Angeles. I will be serving in the Barrio San Martin! This is in the south part, literally the sector right next to Avenida Alemania, my first sector. I know this sector pretty well already, because our apartment was in the middle of it, which is GOOD because I am going to be opening this sector for the first time in about 4 years! Before, there were just 4 elders there, but now there will be 4 elders and 2 hermanas. Oh, and here's the other crazy part, I am taking Hermana Freitas with me! Thats right, we are going to be companions again! What a crazy mission.

I am excited and scared and nervous and happy and just a mix of emotions and I am positive I will serve the rest of my mission in Los Angeles fyi.

This week was an okay one!
We had a super awesome letter with Francisco. We taught him about the book of mormon and the word of wisdom! it was a super crazy lesson and he had so many questions but we commited him to read the BOM and keep the word of wisdom! this means he has to stop smoking which will be hard but he really has these desires to change and I am so excited for him. It will be hard to say goodbye, but everything is going to be okay.

what else. This week we were in the town center talking to Gabriela, because she sells tortillas there, when all of the sudden this guy bolts out of the pharmacy next door with a huge pack of diapers, and takes of running! Oh my gosh, it was so funny, all these people started chasing after this diaper runner and screaming and yelling and I just kept laughing. Soon the cops showed up and they just couldnt catch this guy. It was probably the funniest thing thats ever happened in my whole entire life. oh my heck.

This next week is the 18 of September, and its the biggest holiday in Chile. Everyone is CRAZY with food and dancing and I am just so excited.

but thats about ittttt.
excitted for this new change, and the new people I am going to meet.
I know its exactly where the lord needs me!
BRING IT ON WOOO!
love you all!

Week 35: This week i accidentally killed a chicken

 happy eight months wooo
wouldnt be a week without a pic of a cat amiright

hi hey helloooooooo.

whats up!

welp. its basically summer here now on the other side of the world. I mean like TECHINICALLY its still winter, but oh my goodness its so dang hot during the day... if this is just the being of spring, I am definitely going to die this summer. help.
this week was... good. normal. Like not a TON happened, but it was good :)

First of all, this morning was epic. seriously. We took a trip as a zone to these cool waterfalls that are about an hour from Angol. The first waterfall was cool, pretty, but oh my goodness the second waterfall was super big! We had to like climb down these huge rocks and it was super scary but so worth it! I'm sending lots of pictures. Seriously, Chile is the prettiest country in the world. I love it soooo much.
This week something really funny and really sad happened. One day I was just walking with my companion, talking, when all of the sudden like 400 chickens were crowded around us on the sidewalk, screaming and making weird chicken noises and it was just freaking annoying. I looked at my companion and said, "oh my gosh I seriously want to kill all of these CHICKENS!" then, out of nowhere, this HUGE truck comes speeding down the hill, killing a poor helpless chicken in the street, RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY EYES! I screamed. And maybe cried a little. My companion, in horror, slowly turned and looked at me, saying, "this is all YOUR FAULT!" the power of words my friends, the power of words. Rest in Peace little guy. :(
We had conference with President this week and it was super awesome. And the best part is after we ate homemade enchiladas and rice and beans and brownies and ice cream and it was the happiest meal of my life. We left with big smiles and happy tummies.
what else. This week was a little rough with our investigators. Francisco told us he is a little worried about making big decisions like baptism, and wants to wait awhile, and he thinks we are wasting our time with him and it might be better if we just don't come by. *sigh* but hey dont worry obviously we won't give up. :)}
transfers are next week and I am FREAKING OUT! but excited. I feel like I am going to stay here in Angol for a long time. woooo.
have a great week! love you love you love you alllll
