Week 37: We're just happy there aren't hills in Saint Martin

what. a. week.
probably the craziest week of my life, hands down.
see, guess I'll start from when we got off the bus here in Los Angeles... It was so crazy, like deja vu. We were quickly informed that 1) We would be living in the same apartments that I lived in for the first 5 months of my mission 2) that we wouldn't have a cell phone or map until the next day and 3) that we would literally be starting from scratch, there wasn't an area book, nothing.
about getting thrown right into things, right? Luckily that night we had a meeting with our ward mission leader who is super awesome and helped us get things figured out, a little.
The next few days were super funny and crazy and frustrating and just everything smashed into one, as we did our best to get to know the sector. We only got lost ALOT. But its cool, we're still alive and thats all that matters, amiright?
Sunday, and Monday were crazy. Straight up, flat out crazy.
The 18 of September is Independence Day in Chile, but basically the whole entire weekend is a holiday! Everything was closed and nobody worked (including missionaries.) we have basically had 3 pdays, because no one wants to listen to missionaries on Holidays :')
Chileans use these "holidays" as an excuse to eat and eat and eat and eat and eat. On Saturday, We headed over to the house of our ward mission leader to eat a bunch of typical chilean food with the other missionaries in our ward- Was quite the party, and we're pretty sure we gained like 12 pounds each.
Right as we were about to leave, our ward mission leaders brother pulled up with these 3 cute little white goats in the back of his truck. more about that later...
The next day was CHURCH! this ward is huge huge huge and so so so awesome. Lots of people remembered me from when I was in Avenida Alemania, so that was fun. I loveeee it here.
Hermana Freitas and I both had the opportunity to speak in Church! WEll, I've been struggling for the past couple of weeks with a cough, but on Sunday it was like super bad. So I am up on the stand giving this talk, when all of the sudden I start coughing and I can't stop. #embarassing... This cute little deacon brought me a glass of water in the middle of the meeting and it was just so embarassing and funny, what a great first impression...
Well, after the meeting, the Bishop comes right up to me and says, "In my office, now, we are gonna give you a blessing so this lame cough can get the heck out of your body."
I seriously loveeee this wardddddd.
That night, we had this huge BBQ with our ward mission leader and his family. As they brought out the meat, they looked at me and said, "Hermana Poyfair, remember those cute little goats? They taste good too!"
a few tears may have been shed secretly. R.I.P.
Monday was Pday but since its a holiday here, everything was closed so we literally played soccer and volleyball and mafia for like 8 hours straight. pure juiceeeee.
This morning I got to see hermana johnson for the first time in 2 months and it was such a happy reunion. I miss herrrrrr.
We are super excited for this new week! Its going to be a week of miracles, I can tell.
butttttt thats about it. hope you all have a fabulous weekkkk.
love you guys!
love hermana poyfair
